Bessie Mae Farmer, of Aberdeen, MD, passed away after a brief stay at CitizensCareCenter, on January 27, 2012. She was 91.
She was born in Creston, NC, to William Preston Mayberry and Lillie Nichols Mayberry.
Mrs. Farmer was the devoted wife of 76 years to Chester Edgar Farmer, loving mother of JoAnn and W.D. Blackmon of Milton, FL, Nina and Thomas Byno of Colleyville, TX, Larry and Helen Farmer of Aberdeen, MD, David and Linda Farmer of Elkton, MD, and the late Janet Farmer. She was the adored grandmother of Karen Brumbaugh, Kevin and Vicky Brumbaugh, Kimberly Brumbaugh, Danielle and Kenneth Young, Jason and Christine Farmer, Cynthia and David Powell, Leslie Farmer, Ashley Farmer, Douglas Farmer, and Lisa Farmer. She was also survived by 7 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of Bonnie Capute, and the late William Nichols, Robert Mayberry, Hettie Farmer, Gladys Cox, and Esther Cox.
Mrs. Farmer graduated from RiverviewSchool in Ashe County, NC. She worked at Bata Shoe Company, and also as an Avon Sales Representative. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and spending time with her family.
A viewing will be held on Saturday, February 4, from to at Zellman Funeral Home, P.A., 123 South Washington St., Havre de Grace, MD. Funeral services will follow at . Pastor Ed Heydt will officiate. Interment will be held at AngelHillCemetery. Pallbearers will be Jason Farmer, Kevin Brumbaugh, Harry Cheyney, David Powell, Kenneth Young, and Carl Farmer.
